Born: 1884, Rock Big, Arklow Rural, Wicklow,Ireland
Died: 1902, Clogga, Arklow Rural, Wicklow, Ireland
Parents: Peter Dunne and Catherine Kavanagh
Peter Dunne was the eldest son of Catherine Kavanagh and Peter Dunne, born in Rock Big on 7 June 1884.
In 1901, while his parents and younger siblings lived in Rock Big, Peter was recorded living with his maternal grandparents, John Kavanagh and Elizabeth (Death) Kavanagh in the neighbouring townland of Askintinny.
Tragically, Peter’s life was cut short just a year after the 1901 census. He had been suffering from phthisis (tuberculosis) for two years.
On 10 March 1902, Peter passed away at Clogga (a townland adjacent to Askintinny) at just seventeen years of age.
His mother, Catherine ("Kate") Dunne, was present when he died and registered his passing at the Arklow district office on 2 April 1902. His death marked the start of a deeply sad chapter for Catherine, who would lose both her eldest son Peter and her husband to the same respiratory illness within a three-year period.
