Maria Kavanagh was born on 29th June 1904 at The Togher, Arklow, to John (Jack) Kavanagh and Julia Loughlin.
Her birth was registered on 20th July 1904 by her mother, Julia.
By 1911, the family had moved to Money Big, where Maria was listed residing in a three-roomed, slate-roofed house alongside her parents and siblings; John, Terence, Elizabeth, Thomas, Esther, Annie and Maryanne.
By the time of the 1926 census, Maria was still residing in the family home at Pearse Terrace No. 5, Arklow, alongside her parents and her siblings John, Thomas, and Esther. She was recorded as working locally as a housemaid for publican J. Rafferty.
Maria Byrne remained closely connected to her family in Arklow, and in 1942, she served as the informant when registering the death of her mother, Julia.
