John Gibson

John Gibson was born on 31 January 1911 at The Kish, Arklow, County Wicklow. He was the son of John Gibson, a sett-maker, and Elizabeth Kavanagh. 

His birth was registered on 17 February 1911 by Marcella Doyle of Well Lane, Arklow, who was present at the birth. His father's occupation is recorded as Sett-Maker.

1911 Census of Ireland

Enumerated as a 2-month-old infant living at Rock Big, Arklow, in the home of his paternal grandparents, Peter and Margaret Gibson. He is listed alongside his parents, John and Elizabeth, and siblings Margaret Mary, Peter, and Thomas.

1926 Census of Ireland

Recorded as a 15-year-old son living at House 20, St. Brigid's Terrace, Arklow. His occupation is listed as a "Labourer (Yard Man)" employed by Myles Doyle, General Merchant. The entry notes he had been "Out of work for 2 months" at the time of the census.
