Thomas Connors was born on 10th July 1909 at Askintinny to James Connors and Mary Kavanagh. His birth was attended by Sarah Massy of Fair Green, Arklow, who registered his entry on 28th September 1909.
Aged 2, Thomas was living at the family home in Askintinny with his widowed grandmother Eliza Kavanagh, his mother Mary, and his elder brothers Michael (7) and John (5).
By 1926, 16-year-old Thomas was the only child remaining in the household with his mother Mary in Askintinny.
Single and entering the workforce, he was employed as a general labourer for Parnell Quarries in Arklow, though he was recorded as being out of work for 9 months at the time of the return.
