Anne Kavanagh was born on 1st April 1910 at Well Lane, Arklow, to John (Jack) Kavanagh and Julia Loughlin.
Her birth was registered on 18th May 1910 by Margaret Allen of Lower Main Street, Arklow, who was present at the birth.
By 1911, the family had moved to Money Big, where Annie was listed residing in a three-roomed, slate-roofed house alongside her parents and siblings; John, Terence, Elizabeth, Maria, Thomas, Esther and Maryanne.
Tragically, young Anne’s life was cut short just a few years later. She passed away on 2nd August 1913 at Moneyland (Money Big), Arklow, at the age of 3 years.
Her cause of death was recorded as pertussis (whooping cough), an illness she had battled for 14 days. Her death was registered on 1st September 1913 by her mother, Julia.
This was a heartbreaking period of acute grief for the family, as Anne’s passing occurred just three months after her infant brother, James, died of bronchitis in April 1913.
