Born: 1912, Askintinny, Arklow Rural, Wicklow
Died: 1912, Askintinny, Arklow Rural, Wicklow
Parents: James Connors and Mary Kavanagh
James Connors was born in Askintinny in September 1912 to James Connors and Mary Kavanagh.
They named James in memory of his deceased brother who was born and died in 1908. James also suffered from severe weakness from birth.
Sadly, history repeated itself when baby James passed away on 13th October 1912 at Askintinny, aged just 21 days, with the cause of death again recorded as congenital debility without medical attendance.
His death was registered on 12th February 1913 by his aunt, Catherine Dunne, who was present at his passing.
Notes:
No civil birth registration has been identified for the second James. Given that his death was registered four months after the event by his aunt rather than his parents, it is highly likely his birth went unregistered - a common occurrence when an infant died within weeks of birth. Furthermore, while Mary recorded 4 children born, 3 living on her 1926 Census return, her true total was five children born alive, with two sons named James lost in infancy.
