John Kavanagh

John Kavanagh was born on 20th June 1899 at Gregg's Hill, Arklow, to John (Jack) Kavanagh and Julia Loughlin.

His birth was registered on 5th July 1899 by Anne Fearon of Hall's Lane, who was present at the birth.

1901 Census

Two-year-old John was living with his parents in a one-roomed, thatched cabin at Gregg's Hill.

1911 Census

By 1911, the family had moved to Money Big, where John was listed residing in a three-roomed, slate-roofed house alongside his parents and siblings; John, Terence, Elizabeth, Maria, Thomas, Esther, Annie and Maryanne.

1926 Census

Twenty-six-year-old John was living with his parents, Jack and Julia, and three of his siblings - Maria, Thomas and Esther - in Arklow.

He was unmarried and working locally as a publican's porter for J. Raferty, a publican based in Arklow.
